CLAUDINE MOHNEY EARNS LIFE MASTER

Claudine Mohney of Sedona earned her LIFE MASTER award this past October at the TUSCON Regional. Claudine’s husband, RON, earned his LIFE MASTER in 2005.
Claudine started working towards her life master approximately 3 years ago, at a much less aggressive pace than Ron, who has established himself as one of Sedona’s top players. Claudine took lessons from SUZANNE WELLS of Sedona, however, husband Ron, has long been her most influential influence as a mentor and a partner.

Claudine was born and raised in the Southern California area. She earned her college diploma from UCLA where she majored in Microbiology. Claudine has one sister.

Claudine utilized her education in establishing a career as a Microbiologist with Upjohn (later Smith/ Kline) as a supervisor of one of the largest medical reference laboratories in the U.S. One of her laboratory responsibilities was to investigate bacteria from undetermined illnesses to determine the disease and the drug to treat these illnesses.

Claudine and Ron met in the Los Angeles area. They have a son and a daughter. Claudine became very actively involved in raising their children, volunteering in many local and school activities. Their daughter, Danielle, is now an Investment Banker with Morgan Stanley in New York City. Their son, Dave, is a senior at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh) with a dual major in Computer Science and Electrical/ Computer Engineering.

Although Ron played bridge in Southern California, Claudine started and dropped out, mostly due to lack of Zero Tolerance guidelines as well as lack of non-smoking policies. Thanks to improvements in these areas, she decided to take up the game again when the kids went to college. Ron and Claudine have lived in Sedona since 1986.

Claudine is a strong supporter of education and has a thirst for knowledge. Her latest pursuit is accounting, which she has used to act as treasurer in a number of volunteer efforts. She may in the future seek employment in this field.

Besides developing a successful Bridge partnership, Ron and Claudine enjoy other activities together. This past two years, Ron and Claudine built a new home with the concept of Green Building/ Sustainable Living. The home has the latest technology in energy efficiencies (use of solar for electricity, heating and hot water) and was featured in two separate editions of Yavapai Magazine.

Unit 355 Extends its Congratulations to Claudine. We wish her continued success at the Bridge table. We want to especially recognize the bridge partnership she has formed with her husband. This couple is very competitive, yet courteous, and the strength of their marriage is obvious from the outstanding manner in which they conduct themselves at the bridge table.
